Obituaries For Wednesday, December 4

Funeral services for Charlotte Kay Hancock, 77 of Baxter, will be Thursday, December 5 at 11 AM from the Baxter Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Palmer Cemetery in Silver Point. Bro. Dwight Henry will officiate. Mrs. Hancock died Saturday morning, November 30, 2019 at Overton County Health & Rehab in Livingston. She was born December 7, 1941 in Putnam County to the late Wilbur Frank and Laveda Mary Maxwell Waller. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sons Jerry Lee Herron and Jeffery Lynn Herron, grandchildren Brandi and Brian Herron, brother Wilbur “BUD” Waller. She was a retired seamstress.

Funeral services for Gordon Presley, age 77, of Cookeville will be held 11:00 am Thursday, December 5th, 2019 at Paran Church with Pastors Danny Whitson and Richard Bond officiating. Interment will follow in Paran Cemetery with Tennessee Highway Patrol Honors. Gordon passed away Monday, December 2, 2019 at his home in Cookeville following an extended illness. He was born Monday, March 30, 1942 in Baxter to the late Willard B. Presley and Gilberta Rodgers Presley. Gordon will always be remembered as a loving, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He attended Paran church where he was a member. He retired as a Lieutenant from the Tennessee Highway Patrol after 33 years of service. He enjoyed farming, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed Southern Gospel singing and attending any event where the Caravan Singers were performing. In addition to his parents, Kenneth Gordon Presley was preceded in death by an infant son, Terry Dale Presley and a brother, Paul David Presley. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Bettie Burgess Presley; daughter, Genetta Presley Moore of Franklin; grandson, Kyle Moore of Nashville; granddaughter, Mackenzie (Logan) Bray of Smyrna; 2 great-grandchildren, Wade Keith Bray and Maci Ella Bray of Smyrna; sister, Carolyn (Dave) Bartholomew of Arizona; many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 4, 2019, 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM at Presley Funeral Home, and at Paran Church Thursday, December 5, 2019, 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM prior to the Service.

Funeral services for Mr. Ted Ledbetter, age 85 of Livingston, will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2019 at 1 PM from the chapel of the Hall Funeral Home of Livingston with burial to follow in the Ledbetter Cemetery located in Livingston, Overton Co., TN. He went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, December 2, 2019 at the Livingston Regional Hospital with his family by his side. Mr. Ted Ledbetter was born in Livingston, Overton Co., TN on November 12, 1934 to the late Adley and Nora (McDonald) Ledbetter. Ted was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and a friend to all who knew him. Ted was a member of the First Freewill Baptist Church where he attended. The family will receive friends at the funeral on Wednesday, December 4th starting at 5 PM until 9 PM. officiating the service will be Bro. Derek Copeland and Bro. Eric Dillon.

Funeral services with Military Honors for Leonard Arlin Gentry, age 56 of Monterey will be held on Friday, December 6, 2019 at 11:00AM from the Chapel of Whitson Funeral Home with Bro. Danny Hembree officiating. Burial will be at the West Cemetery in the Fairview Community. Leonard Arlin Gentry passed away on December 3, 2019, In Putnam County. He was born on January 6, 1963 in Putnam County to the late Harvey and Estell (Swack) Gentry. Leonard served in the Army and worked as a Truck Driver and Mechanic for Team Enterprise. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two Brothers: David and Billy Jackson; and One Sister: Rose Ford. His Survivors Include: Wife: Judy (Hammons) Gentry; 2 Sons: Justin Crowe and Joshua Mee; 2 Daughters: Kayla Crowe and Tara Crowe; 2 Brothers: Claude Jackson and Charlie Gentry; 2 Sisters: Kathy Bumbalough and Darlene Young; 11 Grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 5:00-9:00PM and Friday 9:00AM till time of the service at 11:00AM.

Funeral services for Barbara Elise Rice Goff, age 88, of Cookeville will be held Friday, December 6th, 2019 at 11:00 am at Presley Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Moore officiating. Interment will follow in Goff Cemetery. Mrs. Goff passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at her home in Cookeville following an extended illness. She was born Tuesday, October 13, 1931 in Baxter to the late Dewey Mansfield Rice and Ola Mai Harness Rice. Barbara was a mother of 10 children, and loved her family more than anything. She was a member of Ozion Free Will Baptist Church. She attended Trinity Assembly in Algood with her family for several years, where she enjoyed the fellowship with her church family, and dearly missed it when she got sick and couldn’t attend. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Goff; son, Jerry Raymond Goff; infant great-grandsons, James Raymond and William Dillan; 5 brothers, Yune, Gene, Roy, James, and Bill Rice; 2 sisters, Geraldine Felts and Mary Ellen Shackelford. She is survived by 4 sons, Gary (Charlene) Goff, Mike Goff, Dale (Marilyn) Goff, and Danny (Johnna) Goff; 5 daughters, Chris (Jim) Moore, Gay Lafever, Pam (Calvin) Lankford, Lesia (Richard) Young, and Robin Beckham; 11 grandkids and 16 great-grandkids; 2 brothers, Bob (Ruth) Rice and Denver (Linda) Rice; 2 sisters, Reba Davis and Sue (Joel) Perkins; brother in-law, Jimmy Shackelford; 2 sisters in-law, Charlene Rice and Linda Rice; several special nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 5, 2019, 2:00 PM – 8:00 PM and Friday, December 6, 2019, 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM at Presley Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Mrs. Norma Jean Gardner, age 86, of Gulf Shores, Alabama, formally of Quebeck, will be conducted 12:00pm Saturday, December 7, 2019 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. She passed away Friday, November 29th, after an extended illness. Mrs. Gardner was born October 25, 1933 in Sparta, TN to the late Norman Rice and Addie B. Emerton. She was married 50 years to James Ray Gardner. She was retired from the Packaging Division of Nestle Corporation. She loved to watch Hallmark shows, quilting, and send cards to family, friends and fellow church members. She was a member of Quebeck Church of Christ.The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00am until service time at Hunter Funeral Home. Don Shuster will officiate the service.

Funeral services for Mrs. Lillie Ann Philson, age 76, of Cookeville, will be at 11 a.m. Monday December 9 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Mike Casstevens will officiate. Interment will follow in the West Cemetery. Her family will receive friends Monday from 10 a.m. until service time. Mrs. Philson passed away Sunday December 1, 2019 at Bailey Manor in Cookeville.
