Cookeville Police have arrested a Nashville man for allegedly fleeing a traffic stop earlier this week.
Warrants charge Courtney Michael Barrett with evading arrest, theft of property and driving on a revoked license.
Officers came in contact with Barrett on Tuesday while investigating a suspicious activity call on Bradley Drive. A press release said Barrett accelerated away from the affiant when he attempted a traffic stop for a revoked drivers license. The warrant noted that a judge revoked Barrett’s license for an October 2016 reckless endangerment charge.
Barrett’s vehicle continued to Highway 111 and eventually Interstate 40 where he hit speeds over 100 mph. He managed to get away when officer terminated the pursuit near Monterey.
According to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) online jail roster, officers arrested Barrett 11:15 a.m. Thursday. He faces the theft charge after authorities determined that PCSO had reported the vehicle stolen.
