Monterey Hoping For New Tenant In Cate Gill Building

Some improvement may be coming to a vacant suit in Monterey’s Cate Gill Building.

Mayor Bill Wiggins said the Building and Grounds Committee will discuss the project during a meeting Monday night.

“We have an empty suite and it’s been vacant for a good number of years, Wiggins said. “There’s some water damage, we’ve got to replace the carpet, and there’s some work that needs to be done in the restroom.”

Monterey owns the Cate Gill Building and currently leases two suites to a physician and dentist. The Monterey Food Bank also operates out of the building.

Wiggins said improvements to the vacant suite would allow for a fourth tenant to operate out of the building.

“We want to get that up to where it will be fit for presentation to a prospective tenant,” Wiggins said. “It’s space that needs to be utilized.”

The Building and Grounds Committee meets at 5:30 p.m. Monday. Any recommendation from the committee will be voted on during the board of mayor and aldermen meeting at 7 p.m.
