The state’s Principal of the Year award could go to a White County school official.
Education Commissioner Penny Schwinn named BonDeCroft Elementary School Principal Sara Cope as a finalist for the award earlier this week. The annual award goes to a school leader for outstanding service in education and exceptional leadership that drives overall improvements in his or her school.
Cope and eight other principals will proceed to an in-person interview with a panel made up education leaders. Commissioner Schwinn plans to announce the award during a Department of Education conference next month.
