The City of Cookeville will close the Heart of the City Playground at Dogwood Park later this week.
Leisure Services Director Rick Woods said some routine maintenance will be taking place.
“A lot of this is just thorough cleaning and trying to get under benches and those type of things,” Woods said. “We’re also going to be removing some trees on the grounds nearby the playground. While we are taking those trees down we don’t want to have children nearby on the playground.”
The playground will be closed Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Woods said the city will reopen the facility on Saturday at 7 a.m.
“Since school is in session, this a good time for us to do this kind of stuff during the week,” Woods said. “We will have it back up and open by this weekend.”
Cookeville employees will be conducting some of the maintenance at the playground. A contracted tree service will be in charge of the tree removal.
