The City of Cookeville will consider selling some property for the Jefferson Avenue widening project.
Ronnie Kelly is the Director of Cookeville’s Water Quality Control Department. He said the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) has requested a total of five tracts for the project.
“One is going to be a a little small spot that’s pretty simple. There’s one permanent drainage easement, two slope easements, and one temporary slope easement,” Kelly said. “They’ve made an offer of $61,700. I’ve looked at all the comps and everything looks good.”
The Cookeville City Council will consider a measure to sell the property during Thursday’s meeting.
TDOT needs to acquire more than 100-tracts of land for the 2.2 mile project. TDOT Community Relations Officer Jennifer Flynn said that process should be finished in early 2020.
