The Campbell, Stone, and Wood Charitable foundation has donated nearly $10,000 to more than 30 clubs and school programs in Cumberland County.
Doctor Robert H. Wood said he started the foundation four years ago after having concerns about education in the county.
“We’ve grown from $5,000 each distribution to $6,700 in the winter of last year and $9,600 this year,” Wood said. “I encourage everybody to get on board. We’re looking for contributions. They’re placed in an endowment and these funds should be here forever for our students and kids.”
The Foundation has given back more than $51,000 since the fall of 2015. Student Information Systems Administrator Kim Herring said people can make donations by visiting the foundations website.
“Anything that anybody can contribute to this fund, it’s going to come back to you in some way,” Herring said “because it benefits Cumberland County students in so many different ways.”
The funding will be used for things like literacy programs, school sports teams, musical departments and classroom supplies.
