The TWRA has charged five men from Murfreesboro for illegally catching trout in Clay County.
Sergeant Bill Moulton came in contact with the men after receiving a tip through the TWRA Poaching Hotline on Saturday. Witnesses reported seeing a group of men snagging trout below Dale Hollow Dam.
During Moulton’s investigation he discovered that the men had snagged at least 64 trout throughout the course of the day.
A TWRA press release said three of the men held proper licensing. Moulton charged three of the men with illegal take, possession of illegal game, and catching over the legal limit of seven trout per day.
Two of the men received charges for aiding and abetting and illegal methods. Fines and costs associated with the alleged crime totaled $4,020.
