Crews Fix Water Issue At Cookeville High School

A damaged water line caused Cookeville High School (CHS) to go without water for a short period of time Wednesday.

The line suffered damage at 9 a.m. as maintenance crews worked to repair the irrigation system to CHS athletic fields. Workers cut off water leading to the school so repairs could be made.

School officials released a statement saying crews repaired the line and restored water to the campus at 10:30 a.m.

“As with any instance of a broken water line and subsequent repair, water running from the faucets and drinking fountains appeared brown after being turned back on,” the release said. “This is due to dirt and mud debris getting into the water line during the repair.”

Water flushed through the lines for one two two minutes to allow water color to return to normal.

The Cookeville Department of Water Quality assisted county maintenance crews in making the repairs.
