Funeral services for Elizabeth “Beth” Ruth Cronk, age 58, of Cookeville will be held Tuesday, August 27th, 2019 at 11:00 am in the chapel of Presley Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Warren and Roy King of Faith Chapel officiating. Interment will follow in Elmore-Richardson Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, August 26, 2019, 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM and Tuesday, August 27, 2019, 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM at Presley Funeral Home. Elizabeth Ruth Cronk went to be with Jesus, Saturday, August 24, 2019 at Cookeville, Tennessee after fighting long term medical problems. She was born Monday, September 26, 1960 in Paris, Tennessee to Darrell Barnes and Betty Louise Bussell Pack. Beth was married to Tim Cronk for over 38 years. They married on November 9, 1980.

Graveside services and interment with military honors services for Harry Leroy Ashmore, age 97, of Cookeville, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday August 27 at Camp Butler Cemetery in Springfield, IL. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 10 a.m. until 12 noon at Bass Patton Funeral Home in Hillsboro, IL. Mr. Ashmore passed away Thursday August 22, 2019 at in Algood, TN at Signature Health Care of Putnam County.

Funeral services for Mr. James Edward Brown, 70, of Gainesboro, will be held at 2 P.M. on Tuesday, August 27, 2019, at Anderson – Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro. Burial will follow in the Hensley Cemetery in the Freewill community of Jackson County. He passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2019, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born October 29, 1948, in Jackson County, to the late Roy J.B. Brown and Effie Belle Jones Brown. On May 25, 1979, he was married to the late Marilyn “Merle” Brown, who passed away November 25, 2017. He was a factory worker, and served on the Farm Bureau board and the Old Gainesboro Road Utility District board. He was a member of the Church of Christ at Freewill, and an avid fan of the JCHS Blue Devils. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by an Infant Brother; his Maternal Grandparents: Sid Tom and Nannie Jones; and his Paternal Grandparents: Mark and Leona Brown. Survivors include 1 Brother: Roy F. (Denise) Brown of Gainesboro; 3 Nephews: Kevin Brown, Justin Robinson, and Jared Robinson; 4 Nieces: Amber Jacobs, Kristy Brown, Jackie Miller, and Tish Whittenburg; and 2 Brothers-in-Law: Gary and Estle Robinson, both of Gainesboro. Several great nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends also survive. The family will receive friends on Monday from 3 P.M. – 8 P.M., and Tuesday from 10 A.M. until time of services. Memorial donations may be made to the Hensley Cemetery Fund by contacting the funeral home.

A Funeral Service for Carl David England “Uncle Bubba”, 75, of Sparta, will be held at 2pm on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at Oaklawn Funeral Home with David Lipe and David England officiating. Burial to follow at Oak Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Carl passed away Friday, August 23, 2019 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Mr. England was born December 2, 1943 in Sparta to the late Sam and Leona Clouse England. He was a very special person to his nieces and nephews. Mr. England loved fishing, hunting, old cars, trucks, dogs, his dogs Super Dog and Gracie, and chickens. In addition to his parents, Mr. England is preceded in death by two Sisters- Ellen Glenn and Willie Peters, two Brothers- Eldie England and Hilton England. Survivors include; Loving Wife of 56 years – Patty Geer England of Sparta; Sister- Mary Austin of Sparta; Two Sisters-in-law- Jane England and Martha Lee both of Sparta. The family will welcome friends from 11-2 pm on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked donations be made to St. Jude or the White County Animal Shelter.

Funeral services for Mr. Ronnie David Anderson, age 70, of Cookeville, will be conducted 11am Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at Hooper Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home in Cookeville. Burial will follow in Maynard Cemetery with military honors presented by the Honor Guard. Ronnie passed away Sunday evening August 25, 2019 at his residence. Ronnie is the brother of Hunter Funeral Home’s Ricky Anderson. Ronnie was born August 11, 1949 in Cookeville to the late Garland Virgil and Bonnie Estell Underwood Anderson. Ronnie served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He was a truck driver for Institutional Wholesale for over 30 years. Ronnie was a devoted family man who loved spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, Ronnie is preceded in death by his wife Linda Maxwell Anderson. Ronnie’s surviving family includes his Son & Daughter-in-Law: Brent & Jan Anderson of Cookeville; Grandchildren: Macy, Ella & Jase Anderson; Siblings: Donald & Lucille Anderson, Jean Anderson of Cookeville, Robert Anderson of Nashville, Gary & Kathy Anderson of Lebanon, Kathy Anderson Lamb of Cookeville, Ricky & Sharon Anderson of Cookeville; Brothers-in-Law: Jimmy & Wanda Maxwell of Silver Point, Mike & Kim Maxwell of Baxter; A host of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5-8pm Tuesday at Hooper Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Mrs. Bessie Elizabeth “Liz” Sells, age 80 of Livingston will be held Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at 12 PM in the chapel of the Hall Funeral Home of Livingston with burial to follow in the Old Bethel cemetery. Mrs. Sells passed away at Signature Healthcare of Putnam Co. on Sunday, August 25, 2019. Mrs. Sells was born in Livingston on May 15, 1939 to the late Jewel and Dorothy Gore. She was a member of the Church of Christ. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, grandmother. She is going to be greatly missed by all. Survivors: 1 Daughter: Sherry Carter and husband Doug; 1 Grandson: Lucas Carter and wife Jessica; 2 Great Grandchildren: Madison and Grayson Carter; 1 Brother: Rocky Gore and wife Brenda; 1 Sister: Joyce Bilbrey and husband Jerry; 2 Special Nieces: Crystal Romines and Cindy Mullins; 1 Special Nephew: Ken Gore; A host of family and friends also survive. Preceded in death: In addition to her parents, her husband: Henry Sells. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 from 5 PM to 9 PM.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Clara Cleo Winningham Daniels, age 88, of Livingston will be conducted at 1 PM, Wednesday, August 28, 2019, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Bro. Eric Dillon will officiate. Burial will be in Hoover Cemetery. The family will welcome friends on Tuesday evening from 5 until 9 PM at Speck Funeral Home. Mrs. Daniels passed from this life on Saturday morning, August 24, 2019 from the Overton County Health & Rehab. She was born in Overton County on February 10, 1931, to the late Jonah Matthew and Laura Mae Stover Winningham. She loved being the center of attention, cutting up with friends and family, and having a good time.

Funeral Services for Opal Allen, age 92 of Jackson County, will be held Wednesday, August 28, 2019 beginning at 1:30 pm from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home, with Bro. Ronnie Dunn officiating. Interment will follow in Dodson Branch Cemetery. Opal passed away August 25, 2019 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Opal was born in Warren County on May 1, 1927 to Dillard and Alta Freed Ramsey. She grew up in the Dodson Branch Community of Jackson County. Opal left home briefly during World War II to work in the cafeteria at Oak Ridge during the Manhattan Project. After her marriage to Aron Andrew Allen in 1946 she moved to Dayton, Ohio where she worked for General Motors and raised her family. Upon retirement she returned to Jackson County to enjoy many years on the family farm raising cattle, goats and chickens. She enjoyed gardening, basket making and quilting. Her family and grandchildren were a tremendous source of enjoyment in her life. Opal was especially supportive of her grandchildren’s educational pursuits. Opal is survived by five children: Gary David Allen, Donna Castle, Dennis (Yolande) Allen, Diana Acree and Darryl (Helen) Allen; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Aron Allen, her sister Juanita Judd and grandson Toby Allen. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, August 28 from 11:00 am until time of service at 1:30 pm.

Funeral services for Mr. Jesse Taylor Pullum, age 84 of Sparta, will be conducted 3:00pm Wednesday, August 28, 2019 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home. Burial with full military honors by the Veterans’ Honor Guard will follow in Elrod Cemetery. Mr. Pullum passed away Sunday, August 25, 2019 at NHC of Sparta. Mr. Pullum was born June 10, 1935 in Sparta to the late James Robert “Jess” & Lena Gertrude Goff. He was retired from Thomas Industries and served his country in the U.S. Army. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by sisters, Bertie Pullum, Berchie Adcock, Leora Bolin, Lena Fincher, Willie Mae Whiteaker; brother, Lanis Pullum. Survivors include his wife of 42 years Helen Massa Pullum; Daughters: Trease (Darin) Usie and Donna(Jay) Payne; Grandchildren: Ashley Williams, Brandon (Beth) Norris, Lanae (Alex) Winebarger, Michael (Victoria) Usie, Matt (Candace) Norris, and Traeson Usie; 10 Great Grandchildren; Several Nieces and Nephews. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5-8:00pm at Hunter Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Mr. Herbert Ray Price, age 67 of Sparta will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, August 29, 2019, in the chapel of Oak Lawn Funeral Home with Thomas McCulley officiating. Burial will follow in Saylors Cemetery. Military Rites will be presented by the Veteran’s Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 28th, 4-8 pm at the funeral home. His last ride by horse and buggy will be to Saylor’s Cemetery. He passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2019, at Wyndridge Health and Rehab Center in Crossville. Born Tuesday, September 18, 1951 in Sparta, he was the son of the late Charlie Price and the late Florence Baker Price. He was a lifetime farmer and avid coon hunter. Herbert attended Lighthouse Church. He made a great decision to follow Christ. As he said, “He got me”. He served his country proudly in the United States Marine Corps. He was a devoted husband, father, and Pepaw.

Funeral services for Mrs. Emogene Garrett, 89 of Dayton, Ohio and formerly of Cookeville & Monterey will be held Friday August 30 at 11 a.m. at Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Welch Memorial Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Thursday from 5 p.m until 7 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Eastern Star services will be conducted Thursday at 7 p.m. following vistation. Mrs. Garrett died Sunday August 25, 2019 at 3:23 a.m. in Otterbein of Springboro Senior Life Neighborhood in Centerville, Ohio.

A Memorial Service for Sharon Lee Cox,76, of Sparta, will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at 2pm at Oak Lawn Funeral Home. Sharon passed away Saturday, August, 24, 2019 at her home. Sharon was born on May 21, 1943 to the late Raymond and Daspeni Subotich Cox in Sparta. In addition to her parents, Sharon is preceded in death by: Brothers- Nicholas Cox, and Raymond Reese Jr.; Sisters: Ida Juanita Stults, April Davis, and Mary Bullard; Daughter: Aliesha Holloway; Grandson: Joshua Smith. Survivors include: Daughters-Teresa Owens of Sparta, and Cherry Smith (Bob Kelly) of Sparta; Son: Marty Smith (Jarriecce) of Clarksville; Sister: Sussie Meadows; Grandchildren: Treva Owens, Marlea Owens (Eric), Bryce Owens, Scott Brown (Belinda), Royal Smith (Tori), Perrin Smith, Isabella Smith, Lilly Smith, and Landon Smith; Great-Grandchildren: Kaylee Brown, Jaydyn Wilbourn, Keylyn Wilbourn, Leylyn Wilbourn, and Raymond Crisp. The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 31, 2019 from 12-2 pm at the funeral home.
