An arraignment hearing took place Thursday for a Byrdstown man accused of possessing child pornography.
A grand jury indictment charges Oscar Garcia with aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor.
Pickett County Criminal Court Judge Wesley Bray continued Garcia’s case to November 14. The 36-year-old Garcia remains behind bars on $500,000 bond.
Authorities arrested Garcia earlier this year after locating numerous videos and photos of children conducting sexual activity and simulated sexual activity. An arrest report said Garcia admitted to possessing and downloading the content to his computer.
The investigation began after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children reported that someone uploaded child porn to a website. Authorities traced the IP address to Garcia’s home on Billy Zachary Road.
