A White County grand jury will hear a Cookeville man’s arson case.
Defendant Richard Hunger learned the news during a preliminary hearing Tuesday.
White County Deputies arrested the 27-year-old after investigating a Country Club Road house fire two months ago.
Hunger faces six counts of aggravated arson after allegedly admitting to setting the fire. At least six people escaped the home after the fire started.
A Tennessee Bomb and Arson investigator testified Tuesday that the defendant barricaded himself inside a room, lit clothing articles on fire with a propane torch, and later escaped the home. Hunger allegedly told agents that he thought members of the home were trying to hurt him.
Hunger remains behind bars at the White County Justice Center.
