A tractor-trailer crash claimed the life of one person in Smith County Tuesday night.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol identified the deceased as 25-year-old Zhong Li of California. The crash happened on Interstate 40 at westbound mile marker 264.
A THP crash report said the accident occurred when the tractor trailer left the roadway, struck a guard rail, and landed on its top.
The driver of the semi, identified as 63-year-old Franklin Zhang, suffered injuries. His condition remains unknown.
The crash report indicates that State Troopers issued a citation to Zhang for due care.
