A resolution between Monterey and the Standing Stone Health Care Board of Trustees will likely be canceled Monday.
The Finance Committee voted last week to nullify the 44-year-old resolution. Alderman Nathan Walker said the resolution gave the board of trustees too much authority.
“The details of that resolution was that this board was created to have complete control and authority over all these healthcare properties and revenues that were generated from those properties,” Walker said. “Over the years, it’s gone back-and-forth because ultimately the board does not want to have complete control and authority over the money or be responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of those buildings.”
Walker said a new resolution will be created to establish the health care board as an advisory board only.
“All monies and expenditures from the account that they advise…everything has to be ran through the board of mayor and aldermen now,” Walker said.
Part of the new resolution will address the rent collected from Monterey’s healthcare facilities. The board of trustees wants to receive 20-percent of the $290,000 collected each year.
