Emergency slope repairs will begin Thursday along a stretch of Highway 70 in eastern Cumberland County.
A heavy rain event damaged the roadway earlier this year between mile marker 26 and 27.
TDOT spokeswoman Rae Ann Bradley said crews will begin placing a portable concrete barrier near Godsey Road on Thursday. The area will be reduced to one lane and controlled by a temporary traffic signal for the duration of the $3.9 million project.
Bradley said motorist should use caution and expect long delays when traveling through the work zone.
The estimated completion date is scheduled for November 2019.
