Friday Police Chase Leads to Sparta Woman’s Arrest

A Sparta woman faces multiple charges after leading Cookeville police on a high-speed chase Friday.

Officials charged 48-year-old Gloria Geer with reckless endangerment, evading arrest, and driving on a revoked license.

Cookeville Police arrested Gloria Geer for reckless endangerment, evading arrest, and driving on a revoked license.

Arrest warrants indicate officers observed a red Pontiac with an inoperable tail light traveling east on Interstate Drive and proceeded to engage emergency equipment.

The Pontiac turned onto South Walnut Avenue, sped to South Jefferson Avenue, and then to Highway 111.

The chase continued to Sparta, then Cumberland County and back to Cookeville, reaching speeds up to 100 mph.

Authorities spiked the vehicle on the highway on its return. The vehicle finally stopped at the intersection of Jefferson Avenue and Interstate Drive.

The Pontiac passed vehicles on the shoulder and drove them off the roadway.

Authorities identified Geer as the driver, who admitted to running because she did not want to be arrested for driving with a revoked license.

Authorities booked Geer into the Putnam County Jail on a $12,000 bond. She is scheduled to appear in court March 4.
