Fentress County To Address Budget Amendments

The Fentress County Commission will consider a series of budget amendments at the Monday meeting.

County Executive Jimmy Johnson said the amendments are common for this time of year.

The Fentress County Commission will address a series of Budget amendments during the Monday meeting.

“This time of year, they start getting a little short in one line item and they will start putting some more stuff in other line items,” Johnson said. “We have a jail amendment for some maintenance and some breakdowns of stuff. They had to do some repairs at the jail and they are just moving one line item to another.”

Most of the budget amendments concern the Fentress County Sheriff’s Department.

“There are a couple here for the Sheriff’s Department where we had a patrol car have an accident,” Johnson said. “We have got another notification of money that we got from that amendment so that has to go back in.”

Johnson said bringing changes before the board can cut down on improper spending.

“If you run out of funds in one line, which you might say I need so much for this this year, but there are conditions where you come up or fall short in that line,” Johnson said. “You have a supplement from another line. If you move money from one line to another line, you have to go before the commission to get approval of that.”

The total budget amendments concern almost $116,600.
