Funeral services for Mrs. Edith Rhoten Bennett, 90, of Whitleyville, TN, will be held at 11 A.M. on Saturday, January 5, 2019, at Anderson – Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the John L. Clark Memorial Cemetery in the Stone community of Jackson County, TN. The family will receive friends on Friday from 1 P.M. – 8 P.M., and Saturday from 9 A.M. until time of services. She passed away on Wednesday, January 2, 2019, at Cumberland River Hospital in Celina, TN. She was born December 19, 1928, in Gainesboro, TN, to the late Henry Clay Rhoten and Ova West Rhoten. On July 8, 1944, she was married to the late Kirk Bennett, who passed away January 8, 1975. She was a bus driver for the Jackson County School System, a factory worker, and housewife. She was a member of the Richmond Chapel Church of Christ.

Graveside Memorial Services For Edward Claude Powell, Age 81, Of, Monterey, Will Be Conducted On Saturday, January 5, 2019, At 1:00 PM At Welch Memorial Cemetery. Rev. Denna Hornby Will Officiate With Inurnment To Follow. Mr. Powell Passed Away On Tuesday, January 1, 2019, At Vanderbilt University Medical Center In Nashville. Mr. Powell Was Born On November 17, 1937, In Davidson, To The Late Manuel Edward And Eunice Overstreet Powell. Mr. Powell Was A Pharmaceutical Rep, A Member Of The Monterey United Methodist Church, A 1955 Graduate Of Monterey High School, And Attended The University Of Miami. He Is Survived By His Companion, Mary “Cissie” Davenport Of Monterey; Cissie’s Children, Reuben (And Stephanie) Davenport Of Evans, GA, Christine Hawkins Of Flower Mound, TX; Sister And Brother-In-Law, Janice And Bobby Andrews Of Cookeville; Niece, Miranda Andrews Of Cookeville; Sister-In-Law, Judy Powell Of Monterey; 2 Nephews, Storm Powell Of Hilham, Kip Powell Of Monterey; Great Nieces And Nephews, Shane, Kane, Allie, Cassie, Sophia And Spencer Powell. In Addition To His Parents, He Was Preceded In Death By His Brother, Francis Powell. The Family Will Receive Friends At The Cemetery Immediately Following The Services.

Memorial services for Mr. Richard Edwin Wells, age 55, of Algood, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday January 5 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Rev. James Williams will officiate. The family will receive friends Saturday from 11 a.m. until service time. Richard passed away suddenly Saturday December 29, 2018 at his home.

Funeral services for Betty Sue Clouse, age 78 of Sparta, will be held 2:00PM Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Thurman Funeral Home. Internment Smith’s Chapel Cemetery. Mrs. Clouse passed away on Monday, December 31, 2018 at Saint Thomas Highlands Hospital in Sparta. She was born in Ravenscroft, TN on March 24, 1940 to J.B. Anderson and Hazel Marie Anderson. Betty Sue Clouse attended elementary and high school without missing a single day. She also skipped the seventh grade. She was proud of this accomplishment. Betty Sue Clouse was a college graduate who worked her way through college, while raising five small children. She worked at Mallory Timers in Sparta, Tennessee, Libbey Glass in Shreveport, Louisiana and was a licensed real estate agent. Betty Sue Clouse was an avid animal lover, never turning a rescue down and would even come get her children’s animals at times. She loved her farm and home dearly that she built and shared with her loving husband. Family will accept visitors on Friday, January 4, 2019 in the chapel of Thurman Funeral home from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

Memorial services for Mrs. Elizabeth Ruth “Foofie” Payne, 95, of Allons, will be held at 3 P.M. on Saturday, January 5, 2019, at Anderson – Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro. The family has chosen cremation. She passed away on Sunday, December 30, 2018, at Overton County Health and Rehab Center in Livingston. She was born June 15, 1923, in West Haven, CT, to the late Timothy H. Anderson and Mary Veronica Anderson. On December 21, 1944, she was married to the late Orville Roscoe Payne, who passed away October 10, 2005. She was a school teacher, and attended the New Hope Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her Parents: Timothy H. and Mary Veronica Anderson; her Husband: Orville R. Payne; and 1 Sister. Survivors include 1 Son: Samuel (Patricia) Payne of Gainesboro; 4 Grandchildren: Jason (Brittney) Payne, Amanda (Josh) Bilbrey, Aubrey (Chris) Wilson, and Joey (Julie) Payne; and 9 Great Grandchildren: Jamie Bilbrey, Haley Payne, Jacob Wilson, Andrew Wilson, Summer Wilson, Colton Payne, Trenton Payne, Jaylee Kelly, and Landon Kelly. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1 P.M. until time of services.

Graveside Funeral Services For Paul Hargis, Age 74, Of Monterey, Will Be Conducted On Sunday, January 6, 2019, At 1:00 PM At The F.A. Norrod Cemetery. Rev. Tommy Harris And Rev. David Harris Will Officiate With Interment To Follow. Mr. Hargis Was Born On May 16, 1944, In Crawford, To The Late Willis And Margaret Sisco Hargis. Mr. Hargis Passed Away On Thursday, January 3, 2019, At His Home. Mr. Hargis Was A Heavy Equipment Operator In the Timber Industry. He Was A Wonderful Man, Dad And Brother. He Liked To Hunt And Being With Family. He Was Loved By Everyone Who Knew Him. He Is Survived By His Wife, Martha Stephens Hargis Of Cookeville; 1 Daughter And Son-In-Law, Rhonda And Daniel Rich Of Pendleton, IN; 2 Sons And Daughters-In-Law, Kenny And Millet Hargis Of Cookeville, Stacy And Jennifer Hargis Of Cookeville; 4 Grandchildren; 8 Great Grandchildren; 5 Sisters And 2 Brothers-In-Law, Theola Wiggins Of Indianapolis, IN, Pat And Hollis Harris Of Monterey, Donna And Dors Phillips Of Monterey, Wanda Jones Of Hanging Limb Community, Mary Osborne Of Knoxville; 2 Brothers, Claude Hargis Of Crossville, Sammy Hargis Of Portland, ME. Funeral services for Mrs. Maidy Moody, 77, of Gainesboro, will be held at 1 P.M. on Sunday, January 6, 2019, at Anderson – Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro. Burial will follow in the Poplar Springs Cemetery in Overton County. She passed away on Monday, December 31, 2018, at Cumberland River Hospital in Celina. She was born February 3, 1941, in Gainesboro, to the late H.H. Scantland and Ova Scantland. On February 27, 1968, she was married to the late L.C. Moody, who passed away August 5, 2009. She was a factory worker, and a member of the Fairview Free Methodist Church. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 3 Sisters: Lois Lee, Betty Merlene Brown, and Ann Wilson. Survivors include 1 Daughter: Nicki (Seth) McMasters of Cookeville; 2 Grandsons: Gabriel Evan McMasters and Liam Conner McMasters; 1 Granddaughter: Adalyn Grace Lee; 2 Brothers: Harold (Shary) Scantland and Randy (Janet) Scantland, all of Ohio; and 3 Sisters: Carolyn (Scott) Taulbee of Ohio, Wanda Wilson of Goodlettsville, and Brenda (Bruce) Auberson of Livingston. Several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends also survive. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 2 P.M. – 6 P.M., and Sunday from 11 A.M. until time of services.

Funeral services for Tammy Allen Richardson, 42, of Cookeville, will be held at 3 P.M. on Sunday, January 6, 2019, at Anderson – Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro. Burial will follow in the John Young Cemetery in the Shiloh community of Jackson County. She passed away on Monday, December 31, 2018, in Cookeville. She was born January 11, 1976, in Joliet, IL, to the late Joe Earl Allen and Linda Faye Allen. She was a homemaker, and attended the Free State Church of Christ. Survivors include 3 Sons: Jesse (Shelby) Richardson of Gainesboro, Mason Richardson of Gainesboro, and Noah Jayce Trisdale of Baxter; 1 Grandchild: Carter Lee Richardson; 3 Brothers: Gary (Karen) Allen of Cookeville, Kenny (Tammy) Allen of Gainesboro, and Bo Allen of Gainesboro; and 1 Sister: Pamela (Steve) Trisdale of Baxter. Several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends also survive. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 10 A.M. until time of services. Funeral services for Jessie Glenda Shelley Hull, age 67, of Cookeville will be held Tuesday, January 8th, 2019 at 12:00 pm in the chapel of Presley Funeral Home with son, Pastor Ben Hull officiating. Interment will follow in Paran Cemetery. Mrs. Hull passed away Friday, January 4, 2019 at her home in Cookeville. She was born Thursday, December 13, 1951 in Cookeville to the late Jesse Glea Shelley and Margaret Undine Norris Shelley. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 7, 2019, 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM and Tuesday, January 8, 2019, 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at Presley Funeral Home.

Johnny Bowman Will Officiate. Ben Was Born On November 5, 1980, In Monterey, To Don And Julie Hitchcock Bohannon Of Monterey. He Passed Away On Tuesday, January 1, 2019. He Was Operator/Manager Of Papa Don’s Pizza And Uncle Roy’s Chicken. He Was A Board Member And Coach Of Monterey Youth Football League For Over 6 Years, And A Graduate Of Monterey High School Class Of 1999. In Addition To His Parents, He Is Survived By His Fiancée, Caroline Horst Of The Muddy Pond Community; 3 Sisters And Brothers-In-Law, Audrey And Wayne Blaylock Of Cookeville, Rebekah And Alfred Beeler Of Crossville, Elizabeth And Wood Talkington Of Athens; 1 Brother, Buck Bohannon Of Monterey; 9 Nieces And Nephews, Maclaine Bohannon, Zaidea Bohannon, Zeke Bohannon, Luke Blaylock, Zolah Beeler, Jack Blaylock, Zuranda Beeler, Benjamin Blaylock And Belle Talkington; And Maternal Grandmother, Mildred Hitchcock Of Sparta.
