Tennessee Highway Patrol arrested a Cookeville man for driving and possessing a handgun while under the influence Tuesday.
Authorities made contact with 36-year-old Brian Hartbarger after noticing a vehicle traveling eastbound on 1-40 cross the center line twice and the fog line once.
Officials identified Hartbarger as the driver. Authorities noticed Hartbarger had red watery eyes, slurred speech, and the smell of alcohol about him.
Hartbarger failed four field sobriety tasks.
Authorities determined that Hartbarger possessed a handgun in an ankle holster and in the glove compartment of the vehicle.
Officials booked Hartbarger into the Putnam County Jail on a $2,000 bond. Hartbarger has since posted bail.
