A Smith County man faces a charge of methamphetamine after a single vehicle crash on Highway 70 Wednesday.
Officials received intel that 28-year-old Michael Owens of Defeated threw items into the woods following the wreck. Officers found a silver and black lockbox in the woods near the vehicle.
Owens admitted that he was transporting the box contents to a friend.
The lockbox contained an excess of 10 ounces of a crystal substance believed to be methamphetamine.
Officials also found empty baggies and syringes in the box as well.
Owens was out on bail from a felony methamphetamine charge from September 2018.
Authorities booked Owens into the Putnam County Jail on a $20,000 bond.
