A Sparta man faces a methamphetamine charge after possessing over 7 grams of the drug on Saturday.
Officials initially located 31-year-old Charles Wilmoth at Algood Walmart in connection to suspected shoplifting. Police escorted Wilmoth to the loss prevention office and located items that Wilmoth had taken past all points of sale without paying.
During the search, police found approximately 7 to 8 grams of methamphetamine in multiple plastic baggies.
Arrest warrants indicate that Wilmoth said he intended to sell the items as soon as possible.
Authorities booked Wilmoth into the Putnam County Jail on a $50,000 bond.
Wilmoth’s initial court date is December 10.
