A passerby initially called officials after witnessing two people fight in the front yard of a Skymont Dr. residence. When officials arrived they found Phillips and another resident.

The arrest warrant indicates that earlier Phillips attempted to go to the store for more beer. The other resident had hid Phillips’s keys to keep her from driving under the influence.

Phillips became angry and assaulted the resident in the front yard. Phillips strangled the resident inside the residence and stated she was going to kill the victim.

The victim got free and fled to a room to hide the firearm. Phillips and the victim fought over the firearm in the foyer. The firearm discharged.

Both Phillips and the resident claim the other had accidentally fired it.

Officials noted bite marks on the victim’s arm, red finger-shaped marks on her throat, and bullet holes in the foyer wall and dining room floor.
