Fentress County will move to phase two of the Americans with Disabilities Act compliance update.
County Executive Jimmy Johnson said Upland Designs will begin the planning period for the county building updates.
“Mr. [Allen] Hill will come back with a design of what needs to be done, how it needs to be done. You know, whether we want to get a contractor to do it all or do we want to do part contractor and part possibly some inmate labor,” Johnson said. “Just there will be several things that the contractor will have to do. But he will give us one or two scenarios that the commission will be able to pick from.”
Johnson said Upland Design will continue to present recommendations for ADA updates on the county buildings.
“We hope to have a lot of completion done by the designated time that we have,” Johnson said. “Of course, it wasn’t put on where we had to do it so quick, but now we have like two or three years to get it all done.”
Johnson said the pre-estimate for the updates equals approximately $210,000.
Johnson said he does not believe grants are available for the project. The funding will come out of the budget over a period of time for the updates, Johnson said.
“This is coming from your federal agencies and it seems like they would furnish you with some curtail of the monetary grant,” Johnson said. “Or something to help any county do this since they have you to do it.”
The Fentress County Commission passed the ADA study phase for the county buildings at last evening’s meeting.
