Man Charged After Not Returning Carlen Motors Vehicle

A Cookeville man faces one count of theft after borrowing a vehicle from Carlen Motors.

According to an arrest warrant, Cotie Orcutt, 29, was an employee at the dealership when he was given permission to use one of the vehicles.

The owner gave Orcutt permission to use a black 2014 Chevrolet Captiva between Sept. 14 and Sept. 17.

However, the arrest warrant indicates Orcutt did not return the vehicle by the deadline.

Orcutt made contact with the Carlen Motors Service Manager via text and stated someone stole the vehicle in Indiana, although Orcutt did not report the vehicle as stolen. The warrant also indicates he did not respond or answer calls from the dealership.

The Putnam County Jail Roster indicates Orcutt was arrested in the area of Highway 70N and Mill Creek Road between Cookeville and Monterey. He is currently being held at the jail on $20,000 with a court appearance scheduled for Nov. 12.
