“We have one more interview to do,” Wiggins said. “And then we will get down to, what I would like to call, cut to the bone conversation with people who are interested.”

Wiggins said the current lease for Standing Stone Health Care will end in March.

“The Standing Stone Healthcare Board of Trustees has been searching for an operator, whether it be the existing one or any new party,” Wiggins said. “They will be weighing those offers to operate. ”

Signature Health, the current holder of the lease, is among others applying for rights to operate.

Wiggins said he sees the importance of the Standing Stone Health facility.

“We like to have a place for our folks that perhaps need those kinds of services. So it is sort of a priority that we keep ownership of that,” Wiggins said. “And we are looking for an operator who will demonstrate quality care, maintain the building in top-notch condition and compensate Monterey according to National and Regional norms.”

Wiggins said the board has not expressed definite favor in one operating group.

Monterey Board of Mayor and Aldermen will discuss the nursing home operator prospects during the regular meeting this evening.
