A Baxter man will serve up to 18 years for aggravated assault and aggravated child abuse.
A court sentenced Jacob Simpson, 29, with 18 years for aggravated child abuse Thursday.
Simpson’s sentence will run concurrently with 6 years for aggravated assault.
Officials initially arrested Simpson for pulling a knife on another man at a home in Gayle Circle in February of last year.
Putnam County Sheriff’s Office investigated a referral from the Department of Children’s Services in relation to the abuse of a female minor.
Authorities charged Simpson with aggravated child abuse in connection to abuse that took place on Halloween of 2016.
Simpson pled guilty to both charges.
