Cookeville Man Charged with Assault by Strangulation

A Cookeville man faces one count of aggravated assault for causing injury by strangulation on August 25th.

Officers arrested Daniel Joseph Greigo, 32, after responding to Cookeville Regional Medical Center ER in reference to a reported assault.

The victim reported that Greigo returned to the residence around 6 am. Greigo had been drinking and was allegedly angry.

According to the report, an argument ensued, and Greigo broke several items in the home.

When the victim attempted to calm Greigo, he placed the victim in a choke hold.

The victim did not report passing out but experienced a light-headed sensation.

After releasing the victim, Greigo fled the scene.

Authorities booked Greigo into the Putnam County Jail on Thursday. Greigo has since posted bail.
