The Putnam County Budget Committee has approved moving approximately 150 thousand dollars from the Sheriff’s Drug Fund.
Sheriff Eddie Farris said the 150 thousand would go towards finishing the Sheriff Training Center.
“So we are asking to move quite a bit of our monies that we have in our drug fund. And the reason for that, I am sure we won’t use it all, but if we don’t ask to move it and we need some of it along the year, we don’t have it,” Farris said. “So as you know, we have been trying to build a training facility. We have our firearms range built. We have the tower built. We need to build two structures down there.”
The Sheriff’s department does not expect to finish both additions during the next year, Farris said.
“We are going to build a pavilion and we are going to build a classroom. We will not get both of those built this year,” Farris said. “We know that. But we do need to have money over there so we can try to get at least one of them built.”
