Between 90 and 95 percent of those furloughed by Cookeville Regional Medical Center have returned to work.
“I still have a small handful of individuals that are still furloughed,” CRMC CEO Paul Korth said. “I think they’ll probably be furloughed for, again, a couple of weeks yet because we still have some departments in some areas that are not opened up yet.”
Korth said the cardiac rehabilitation center remains closed, one of the major areas where staff remains off the job.
“That is a very high risk patient clientele that we take care of there,” Korth said. “And as these numbers, COVID-19 numbers have kind of increased, we’ve kind of continued to take a look at that and see how long we’re going to we’re going to wait on that.”
The Medical Center furloughed roughly 400 employees April 6 as the COVID-19 shutdown ended all elective procedures. Those restarted earlier this month.
