357K In Grants Coming To Cumberland, Putnam County To Help With Highway Safety

House Speaker Cameron Sexton announced some $357,000 in Highway Safety Grant funding for law enforcement agencies in the district.

The money will help with safety on local roadways as well as efforts to fight drunk driving. The Cumberland County Sheriffs Department will receive $55,000 for DUI enforcement. The Fairfield Glade Police will receive $50,000 for a senior driver safety campaign and a network coordinator.

Funds for community-based traffic safety enforcement and education are coming to Crossville and Monterey. Crossville will receive some $26,930 while Monterey received $15,000.

“I appreciate the Tennessee Highway Safety Office, our Department of Safety and Homeland Security, and our local agencies for their effective, committed partnership in securing these sizeable grants,” Sexton said in a release.
