House Speaker Cameron Sexton announced some $357,000 in Highway Safety Grant funding for law enforcement agencies in the district. Monterey Police tracked down two men after they escaped from officers early Saturday. Police located Patrick Cole Floyd entering a North Oak Street residence. As the officer tried to handcuff Floyd in the kitchen, another man entered the home. Patrick Scott Floyd assaulted the officer allowing both men to escape. The officer was not seriously injured.
