17 Upper Cumberland schools recognized as Reward Schools for outstanding performance and/or improvement in performance during the last school year.
The list includes six Putnam County Schools, three in Overton County, two each in Cumberland, Jackson and White Counties, and one each in Dekalb and Van Buren Counties.
Some 400 schools statewide received the honor from the State Board of Education. A Reward School has an overall school score of 3.1 or higher per federal accountability calculation. The school must also be listed as an improvement target. According to the state, these schools demonstrate
high levels of performance across numerous indicators that judge student success.
The Putnam County Schools honored as Reward Schools include Algood Middle School, Burks Elementary, Capshaw Elementary, Cornerstone Elementary, Prescott South Middle School and Sycamore Elementary.
In Overton County, Allons Elementary, Hilham Elementary, and Livingston Middle School reached Reward Status.
Cumberland County Reward Schools include Crab Orchard Elementary and South Cumberland Elementary. In Dekalb County, Northside Elementary named a Reward Status. Obtaining Reward Status in Jackson County, Dodson Branch Elementary and Jackson County High School.
Van Buren Co High School takes Reward Status in Van Buren County. White County Schools recognized include Doyle Elementary and White County High School.
The recognition honors work in the 2022-23 School Year.
