The 34th annual Highway 127 Yard Sale will go on as planned August 6 through the 9.
Media Relations Director Josh Randall said social distancing for the event should be easy since the 690-mile event is predominantly outdoors.
“We considered a lot of things,” Randall said. “Obviously the safety of everybody who participates is of paramount importance. We also considered the fact that this is a very economically impactful event for a lot of people in very poor and rural areas, so a lot of these vendors drive a large portion of their yearly income, in some cases.”
Randall said vendors and attendees should pay attention to their state and county rules about safety precautions. He said rental space providers should have hand washing stations, and vendors and yard salers should bring their own hand sanitizers.
So far, a lot of positive feedback has filtered through the 127 Yard Sale’s social media.
“I mean I would say like 99 percent positive feedback of people who want to participate and believe that they can do it safely following the various guidelines and requirements that are out there,” Randall said.
Known as the world’s longest yard sale, this even spans through six states including Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, and Alabama. The yard sale will go through Jamestown, Clarkrange, and Crossville.
