An early morning fire at Clay County’s Cedar Hill Marina destroyed two houseboats.
Clay County Emergency Management Agency Director Natalie Boone said crews responded to the scene around 4:30 a.m. Thursday.
“Fire department got on scene and one houseboat was fully engulfed and had caught another boat beside it on fire,” Boone said. “Those two boats were a total loss and completely destroyed along with a jet ski.
A third houseboat was damaged during the fire. No injuries were reported.
Boone said Tennessee Emergency Management Agency and Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation will be assisting with clean up efforts.
“We are working to get clean up companies in here right now. Most of all the fuel that was on board actually burned up,” Boone said. “We don’t have a lot in the water right now, but we do have booms in place where we have spillage.”
A cause has not been determined, but officials said it could be electrical in nature.
