Youths Take Mushrooms, Get Lost In Fentress County

Four youths got in trouble with the law after taking “magic mushrooms” and losing their car.

A written statement from the Fentress County Sheriff’s Department said one of the youths called 911 Tuesday afternoon for help finding the car.

The youth said he and three friends had taken mushrooms and gotten lost in Wilder. Deputies located the youths, and took them back to their car.

Two were transported to Tennova Hospital in Jamestown for treatment. 20-year-old Sommer Downes, of Grimsley, and 21-year-old Bradley Welch of Cookeville were both arrested on public intoxication and disorderly conduct charges. Their bond was set at $5,000 each.

More charges are pending in the case.
