Youth Volleyball Clinic For Kids Interested In School Tryouts

Registration is open at the Cane Creek Gymnasium and just in time for kids interested in volleyball.

Athletic Coordinator Lori Medlin said the youth clinic is staffed with a coach and college players. Medlin said all participants need to bring is a ball and knee pads.

“We are using coach Petreva Hobbs from the Daniel 1 Academy as our main instructor,” Medlin said. “We’ll also be using some of her volleyball participants, as well as some of the TTU Volleyball Team participants.”

Medlin said this clinic will help get kids ages 8 to 15 ready for school tryouts. She said whether they work on the fundamentals or need to get in playing shape.

“Children that are interested in the school athletic programs for volleyball a hands-on clinic to teach them how to do the basic skills of setting, bumping, spiking, serving,” Medlin said. “As well as some athletic training to build their strength going into the school tryouts.”

Registration is open until April 2 and costs $25. Medlin said that interested parents can signup at the gym.

“We’re limiting it to 40 spots at this point, just because of COVID restrictions,” Medlin said. “And to give enough of a student to coach ratio.”

The youth volleyball clinic will be held on April 10 from 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM. Parents can also call the Cane Creek Gym to get more information.
