As of this afternoon about 75 Cookeville Electric customers remain without power following Saturday night’s storm system.
Karen Brown with Cookeville Electric’s energy services said getting everyone back online has been a daunting task.
“We have 12 to 15 broken poles and we still have to replace about 10 big transformers,” Brown said. “We are still discovering more and more damage as the days go on.”
About 20 homeowners will have to hire a private electrician to get their power restored.
Brown said the event was one of the biggest devastations in the electric department’s history.
About 40 Upper Cumberland Electric customers remain without power. That number down from the 4,000 outages reported at the height of the storm.
General Manager Jimmy Gregory said most of the remaining outages are scattered throughout the county where broken poles and service lines are harder to get to.
