Cleanup continues from the Memorial Day storms.
Cookeville Public Works Director Greg Brown said each day city trucks bring piles of brush to the landfill.
“Some of it, they brought some more out so we’ll have to make another trip through, but we’re trying to hit every street in the city at least once before we go back, if at all possible,” Brown said.
Workers bring that brush to the mulch yard where it’s chipped up and spread in the landfill to prevent erosion, Brown said.
Since the storm brought so much damage, residents can go pick up a load of wood chips at no cost, he said. The mulch yard is locate at 2103 West Jackson Street. Wood chips are available from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Brown said workers may not be able to help residents load their vehicles, depending on their work load.
