Woman Charged After False Report

Cookeville Police arrested a woman after she falsely reported a man was holding a gun on a child.

Cookeville Police Major Carl Sells said 43-year-old Mary Lenora Jean Triplett was charged with public intoxication and filing a false report.

The police were alerted just before noon Tuesday. Responding officers wound up shutting down three blocks of Franklin Avenue to investigate.

Cookeville Police, Putnam County EMS, Cookeville Fire Department and the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department all responded to the scene.
