Woman Arrested After Leaving Children At Algood Park

A Cookeville woman has landed behind bars for allegedly drinking alcohol and leaving four children at Algood Park.

The Algood Police Department charged 28-year-old Juana Bartolome Miguel with child abuse and neglect Monday.

An arrest report said Miguel drank a large amount of an alcoholic beverage before driving to the park. She allegedly fell asleep inside the vehicle and left the children behind after driving away.

Officers noted that Miguel drove to Cookeville’s Cinderella Park and fell asleep a second time before waking up and not remembering where she had left the children.

Officers transported the 9, 7, 5, and 3-year-old children to the Algood Police Department. The report said DCS contacted relatives to take custody of the kids.

Miguel has posted a $5,000 bond. Her initial court date will take place September 9.
