Winter will be here soon, so Putnam County Extension Agent Wayne Key suggests getting ready now.
“This is a good time of year if you’re looking at doing any exterminating for fall insects, spiders and things, this is definitely a good time of year, it’s dry right now, those critters are moving indoors looking for moisture and a place to lay eggs and that kind of thing,” Key said.
A little bit of work in the fall can head off winter problems before they become big or expensive.
“It’s a really good time of year to winterize your home as far as weather stripping around windows and doors, sealing off any kinds of openings or cracks in the brick or block where air can get in,” Key said.
Key also said it’s a good time to winterize your garden, preparing it for winter and an easier spring. That includes removing debris and adding fresh mulch.
