Willow Ave. Open After Crash Early Tuesday

Lanes are open again after an accident on South Willow Avenue near Lone Oak Drive early Tuesday morning resulted in the closure of all lanes.

Cookeville Police Department Public Information Officer Lieutenant Anthony Leonard said one driver has been arrested on a DUI after crashing into a utility pole. Leonard said when first responders were on the scene, a tractor-trailer ended up driving into the lines causing more issues.

“From my understanding, there are still a few electric customers that still do not have service however the pole has been replaced,” Leonard said. “We are still waiting on telephone services to be restored.”

Leonard said the accident itself is still under investigation. Willow Avenue expected to have partial closures throughout the afternoon as utility work is being completed.
