White County Veterans Museum Distributing Grave Flags Before Memorial Day

The Veterans Museum of White County will be offering grave marker flags in the lead up to Memorial Day.

Museum Director Sandy Witt said anyone or any group is encouraged to stop by the museum on Thursday from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM. Witt said they’re asking the community to get out and pay their respects to those lost fighting for the United States.

“It shows respect of those who gave their life for this country,” Witt said. “That’s just something I think we should always remember. With Memorial Day coming up, it is the time of remembrance and giving thanks to those families who gave up their loved ones and the ones who did lose their lives.”

Witt said the museum started distributing flags three years ago as a way to give back, after how generous the community had been to the museum. Witt said that families and groups can get multiple flags. She said the plan is to give the flags away until they’ve all been handed out.
