White County Board Room Dedicated To Former Members

The board room at the White County Board of Education Central Office has been dedicated to two former members, Kenneth Robinson and Richard McBride.

Board Member Jayson McDonald said both former members recently passed away, having served a combined 36 years on the board. He said many of the positive programs in the district today are a direct reflection of their vision.

“There’s a lot of different opinions on a lot of different things, and that’s what makes the board work,” McDonald said. “And those two gentlemen were definitely gentlemen who could put out their ideas in a way that would make it understandable.”

McDonald said naming a room in memory is the least the board could do to thank them for their service.

He said both Robinson and McBride served under three separate directors. He said both were able to adapt to new leadership styles and continue steering the board toward providing the highest quality education possible for White County students.

“Just their understanding of school policy and budgets and things that helped me along,” McDonald said. “And it just meant a lot to me personally and professionally.”

McDonald said he spent years being mentored by both former board members and credits their tutelage for his ability to be an effective board member years later. Board Chair Bob Young said both men played major roles in the board’s success and he appreciates the board’s intent to honor their dedication.

“They did serve our community well and their hearts were certainly for the betterment of providing quality education for our community,” Young said.

McDonald said their impact stretch beyond just the school system as both were extremely well thought of in the White County community.
