White County Offering Alternate Voting Location

The White County Elections Commission Office is offering an alternate voting location for elderly and disabled citizens on Election Day.

This allows those who are elderly and disabled to vote at the election commission office instead of the precincts on election day. White County Administrator of Elections Sherry Anderson said this is an alternative for those who have trouble getting into the precincts.

“It’s their right to vote, they should be able to vote,” Anderson said. “There are other options if they wish to vote by absentee, but we want to give every available option that we can, so the voters, all voters have a right to come in and feel comfortable being able to vote.”

Those who would need the assistance will have to register Monday to take advantage of the service. Anderson said the voting process is still the same as the precincts.

“The only thing is they have to register with the election commission if they wish to vote in the election office on election day within 10 days before the election,” Anderson said.

Anderson said people don’t have to come to the office to register.

“They can contact our office and we can send them the paperwork,” Anderson said. “They can come by the office and sign the paperwork here. We are happy to help in any way that we can and make it as easy as possible for them.”

The State and Federal Primary, County General, and Sparta Municipal Election is August 1st.
