White County Churches Host Still I Rise Women’s Conference Saturday

Three White County United Methodist Churches will join forces to present the Still I Rise Women’s Conference on Saturday.

Kynett United Methodist Church Lay Servant Cynthia Gist said the event will focus on empowering and encouraging women. Gist said that church leaders felt it was the right time to host this event because it has been a difficult season for people since the COVID-19 pandemic prevented congregations from worshiping together.

“Through our meetings and through our prayer time, we came up with the conference to instill power through Christ through the speakers that are coming,” Gist said. “We’re just getting together as a group of women to help each other along the way.”

Regina Coonrod Pullin will be the worship leader. The Sparta native is a recording artist who has been involved with a Life Church in Sparta, Gist said. Karen McNair will be the keynote speaker. Gist said the author and motivational speaker called Cookeville home for several years. Pastor Lisa Sanders of Murfreesboro will speak.

Burton’s, Wright’s, and Kynett will present the conference.

Gist said that it has been difficult to be empowered and encouraged, but this event is a way that women can get that encouragement from one another.

“We want women not to come in and leave the way they came in,” Gist said. “We want them to know that they can grow and be led by the Holy Spirit and know that God can take care of things when we can’t even take care of it in our own power.”

The conference will be hosted by Sparta First United Methodist Church. The conference will run from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm.

“Through this season, there are so many things that have gone that may have brought women down as far as financially or health-wise,” Gist said. “We as women bear the burden of the family a lot of times.”
