White County Ambulance Crashes In Warren County, Patient Killed

A patient being transported to a hospital died Thursday afternoon after a White County ambulance crashed in Warren County.

The crash happened at the intersection of Sparta Highway and Bone Cave Road near Rock Island.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, 63-year-old Carol Simpson of Rock Island was driving a Dodge Caravan. A crash report said she was maneuvering across High 70 and failed to yield right of way to a White County ambulance heading westbound.

Simpson’s vehicle crashed into the drivers side of the ambulance, causing it to spin and strike a guard rail before coming to a final rest on its top.

The crash killed a patient in the ambulance identified as 60-year-old Clifton Harville of Crossville. Two EMT’s suffered injuries and Simpson was uninjured in the crash.
