White County Commission Chairman Stanley Neal opened the group’s regular meeting by encouraging residents to call the city of Sparta with concerns about Marine Corps training.
At it’s last meeting, the Sparta Board of Mayor and Alderman approved an agreement with the U.S. Marine Corps, allowing the Corps to conduct training in the city.
Neal said that decision was made by the city and the county wasn’t involved. County Executive Denny Wayne Robinson said he had met with the Marine Corps representatives about six months ago, but had heard nothing since that time.
