White County Schools applying for a one million dollar grant to install interactive learning boards in classrooms.
Director of Schools Kurt Dronebarger said grades K-5 already have the technology. Dronebarger said the grant would install interactive boards for the remaining grade levels.
“These are great tools. They are not just tvs,” Dronebarger said. “They are presentation devices. It’s like a computer that they can project anything they do on their computer and even their own computer and their phone. They can stream to it. They can write on them. They are rally well used and loved by our teachers.”
Dronebarger said web cams come with the purchase to add virtual learning capabilities. Dronebarger said the district would have to pay a matching cost of $144,000. Dronebarger said a small price considering over 150 boards would be purchased.
“With ESSER funds, we were able to put those in all of our K-5 school classrooms,” Dronebarger said. “This would cover all of our classrooms in our district.”
Dronebarger the gear can be updated years down the road.
