White Co. Resumes Efforts To Bring Frisbee Golf Opportunities

White County will resume efforts on bringing frisbee golf opportunities to the community.

County Executive Denny Wayne Robinson said the Parks and Rec Committee voted to pursue this about a year ago, but COVID pushed it back. He said frisbee golf is a component of the new county Parks and Rec Master Plan.

“We’ve got insight from people in the community and wanted to see what their needs were and their wants,” Robinson said. “And they decided that was on the wishlist. So that really helps get this done. It helps to basically get accreditation for getting it done.”

Robinson said the county plans to make frisbee golf available at the Highway 70 sports complex just outside of town. He said the county is in the process of doing the bid specs.

Robinson said the county hopes to have everything in place by the end of the summer, or even the beginning of summer.

“There seems to be a lot of community interest in this,” “I didn’t know much about but I went out and played and I thought you just took a regular frisbee. But there are people out there with basically a golf bag with different discs for what you would call a driver or a putter. It’s amazing the equipment that’s involved in this frisbee golf. People take it really seriously.”
